                    Jennifer's Story - June 2010

Initially, the idea of using a doula during my pregnancy and delivery seemed unnecessary.  I had the support of my spouse and family the first time around.  Did I really need it?

I had the fortunate timing of meeting Crystal, forming a friendship, and learning of her desires to be a doula and all that it entailed.  I was more curious to say the least and welcomed the idea of having Crystal attend the birth of our second daughter.  Crystal provided a wealth of information during my pregnancy that I may not have considered before.  She helped our family create a birth plan that suited our ideals and it proved invaluable when labor started.

I believe my spouse felt more comfortable with her guidance in how to help me through each contraction and just having an unbiased, non-family member there was helpful.  Crystal kept her head in the game, so to speak, and didn’t let her emotions take over upon seeing me during a painful contraction.  Her aide hasn’t stopped at delivery.  She has proven to be a great help postpartum as well.  Breast feeding support is essential and I am glad she has been there to help even a second-time mom through difficult feedings.

Crystal has gone above and beyond for our family during this experience and I will definitely call on her services again if we have another child.
